The Rural Basic Landscape Training Program (Atlantic Region) will provide accredited, meaningful classroom and on-the-job training to 50 unemployed young people in Atlantic Canada. Participants will first be given intensive training in basic principles of landscaping. Then they will proceed to participating local landscape companies to be employed as landscape technicians for a full season (approximately 26 weeks) including a one week mid-term classroom training session. The entire program will be developed to mesh with national certification standards being adopted by the Canadian Nursery Trades Association. Successful completion of the program will qualify participants for permanent work in the landscape industry. Le Programme de formation de base en paysagisme en milieu rural (Région de l'Atlantique) offrira à 50 jeunes sans emploi du Canada Atlantique la possibilité d'acquérir une formation théorique et pratique pertinente, débouchant sur une reconnaissance professionnelle. Les participants recevront d'abord une formation intensive qui les initiera aux principes de base du paysagisme. Ils seront ensuite embauchés par des entreprises locales de paysagisme participant aux programmes, où ils travailleront comme techniciens-paysagistes pendant une saison complète (environ 26 semaines), et bénéficieront d'une semaine de formation en classe au milieu du semestre. Le programme sera conçu conformément aux normes nationales de reconnaissance professionnelle en voie d'être adoptées par l'Association canadienne des pépiniéristes. Les participants qui réussiront leur stage pourront obtenir un emploi permanent dans l'industrie du paysagisme.
